I've heard terrible things about them. How would breeders be strengthening their gene pool? Would they be breeding to recessive morphs making them het then breeding back together? I'm curious because I want to know just incase I ever happen to work with them when I start breeding.

Different breeders do different things - and it really depends on what they're after. If they believe ES can be 'bred out', they're probably doing what you said or just simply crossing them with other things. But if they're just looking to make money or randomly breeding in the hopes they'll suddenly produce one without ES, they very well might just be breeding them pure.

At this stage of Enigmas in the hobby, anyone who honestly believes they can "breed out" the Enigma syndrome is a breeder I would steer clear from. Enigma has obvious neurological abnormalities which cause the "syndrome". You can not strengthen the line because it is not a genetic mutation which can be improved upon as it is a systemic disability, not a phenotypical abnormality. ANYONE still breeding them draws question in my opinion. I use to breed them but after a very short time of seeing the ups and downs of them, morally and ethically I couldn't work with them anymore.

I meant het for another morph lol to maybe strengthen their gene pool? idk.

Enigmatic explained why that couldn't be possible. Well, thanks everyone. I was just curious. :)
