How do you Dubia feeders handle these little guys? I'm getting itchy just looking at them..

Good Luck! i got around 10-15nymphs I forgot and i don't feel like counting. But the little itty ones are cute the bigger ones are freaking me out those. Those antennas isn't like they're teasing me.

well I generally just reach my hand in the bin and pick out what I need lol. I guess I'm lucky as bugs don't bother me.

I was pretty freaked out the first week or so I had them- but you get used to them. It's easiest to just grab them- tweezers and such either crush them (gross) or they get away (completely unacceptable- especially when you drop them on the floor!)

I was thinking of using a plastic spoon and having my supplement dusting cup right there and scoop them up into it then shake and bake and try to see if they stay in the bowl.

Something you can do is to get toilet paper rolls and put them in the roach cage for them to hide in. You pick up the roll, shake roaches into container A, pick out ones you don't need, dump them into container B to be dusted and then fed.

Can't ya just drop a roach bomb in the container and close the top... oh wait you want them alive don't you? Sorry - instinctive reaction, only a little less violent than crickets :)

My vote is for feeding tongs b/c I think if I picked up a dubia I'd freak out and squish it. I could probably control myself if I didn't have to touch it :)

I just use my hand to grab the small ones and knock the big ones out of the way.
When I use my tongs, it's really hard to catch them, and they fall off.

What freaks me out is when one of the adult males gets on my arm w/o me knowing it, and scurries up to my neck!! :main_lipsrsealed:

That is when I'm ready to say, screw this, where's the Raid!!??

This is how I get them out for feeding. Usually I will just reach in there and grab the ones that I want. I will usually fill my hands until full. When I have all I can hold then I will put a few in my mouth until my hand are free to handle more.

Probably. Really they aren't that bad once you get past the crunchiness. Seriously though when I got mine I was somewhat hesitant about them, but they really are not that bad. And to see how much some of my leos like them I am so glad that I started that colony.

uggh tim your making me sick to my stomach. I plan to feed one today and see how it goes! I'm just happy i have a few and not an entire case full of roaches. I don't think I will make these things a staple as off yet because I have to get used to the idea first! But I'll see how it goes...
