So we finally hatched one RAPTOR this year, it was the last egg and from a female who had quit eating so I didn't think it would even hatch. Right after it hatched I thought I noticed a tiny piece of extra skin on one of it's eyelids but after it's first shed I didn't see it anymore. When I cleaned it's tub today I noticed that those eyelids are fused shut. I tried gently wiping it with warm water and then NPB but it looks like the lids have actually grown together. Have any of you ever seen this before. I guess it figures that it would happen the day before we go out of town. Do I need to leave any special care instructions for the friend watching our geckos?

See if you can get your regular vet to give you a small tube of opthalmic salve like NeoPolydex. This is a petroleum based antibiotic that can really help getting the stuck eyelids softened up enough for the baby to open them.

What a pretty little gecko!

Thanks Marcia. I think what we have is Neo Poly Bac, it's the same thing. It did finally open up again but there's definitely extra skin inside the eyelid...weird.
