Facebook Herp sales... Is there a tax?

This probably isn't the right place, but I wasn't sure where else to put it. So suppose I make a facebook business page, and in the photo album I have the geckos with an "id #", one for each gecko. If I have people message me the id # of the gecko they wish to purchase, and send them an invoice over paypal, would there be a tax for that? A few of my friends said that it's possible seeing as it's a small business, but what do you think? Has anyone done it this way?

If you don't have a sellers permit or business license then you have no obligations to pay taxes on sales. I know a law has been approved (not sure when it takes effect) that will require taxes on all online sales...but the same applies above. If the IRS has no record of your business then you have no tax ID # and would have no way to pay them taxes even if you charged it.
