Faster Reproduction...Tell your stories!

Well this is a little off topic but it's funny story, but it's not about a Leo, haha, but you guys should share shocking/funny stories if you have some!

A few minutes ago I was thinking...heat usually speeds things up, like the reproduction of meal worms..I remembered one time I had put some meal worms in my Fire skink's cage and they went un touched but turned into pupae really fast...(he/she has a red heat light)

Well I was thinking, I wonder how many pupae I can get pretty fast...So I grabbed a clear bowl and put about 30 meal worms in it and stuck it in the skink's tank cause I knew he wouldn't eat them because,

A. He's never out, he's always buried.

B. He's always turned his nose up at meal worms

So I was watching the meal worms for a few, seeing if they could get out of the bowl, when a flash of color zooms into the bowl and snatches a meal worm and all I see is a meal worm being drug under a plant...struggling...it was like a horror movie, those poor unsuspecting meal worms!! O_O A little shocked I sat there watching for a few minutes...and eventually a little nose pops out from under the plant and dives into the bowl and grabs another one...

To say the least, I was surprised! At least he's eating, but now I don't think my...heat experiment is going to work so well...heh...

Does anyone else have any odd, funny stories about their critters to tell that surprised them? I think this could turn into a cool thread!

Nothing so funny as that but I had to give Tiamat a bath today because she hadn't pooped in a while. The whole time she was gargling. I thought it was her tummy until I picked her up and put her to my ear. lol That's the first sound I've ever heard her make.

I felt so bad having to give her a bath. The whole time she was gargling and trying to get out of the sink and looking at me like "PLLLLEASE GET ME OUT OF HERE!". It's funny how the more you're around them the more you can ALMOST tell their facial expressions even if they never change. lol

Well, something that Kiya did that I thought was soo cute was when I would lift her chin to kiss her chin. You could always tell when she was in an active mood because she would climb my face up to my head and just lie there. Lol! It was so cute.

Ares gurgles. Lol, I will never forget the first time I heard him gurgle at me. He had climbed under my tank top and decided to fall asleep like that on my back. A half hour later I had to wake him up, so I let him slide down my back. When I picked him up and stroked his head he gurgled! Apparently he is not a morning Gecko. Lol

hmm...I think the funniest thing Kaida has ever done was shortly after I first got her. I had her out and was just handling her a little to try and get her used to me and being handled right? Well she climbed up my shirt and to my right shoulder where she decided to chill for a few. I watched her out of the corner of my eye for a bit, her face was facing the same direction my back was so all I could really see was her butt and tail.

Well, after a minute or so I turned to look up at my TV, I was wearing my hair up in a sort of loop/bun thing, and I guess when I turned it moved my bun toward her and must have startled her because she did what I'm guessing is that gecko "bark" thing. It startled me but was cute at the same time, kind of like a chuff/bark/squeak noise.

I can only guess she saw my hair headed her way and was like "OMG WTF!?!?!?" That's the only time I've ever heard her make any kind of noise.

The funniest things Leonith ever did was wag her tail rapidly when she was hunting crickets, and there for a while she got into this stalk and strike mode with anyone she could see outside of her tank XD That was cute because she'd stare intently, slowly stalk across the tank toward you, strike, and then blink like "wait...what???"

Leopard Geckos are pretty awesome little pets, I'm glad I was turned on to them ^^

We had one hatchling that came out of his egg barking and jumping at everything he saw move. He would get up on his toes and make himself look "big" ( thats funny initself when you are talking about a 3 gram creature) and jump at you. He is 89 grams today and he still likes to hop at you when you put your hand in his tank.
