Fatten them up??

Whats the best way to Fatten up my gecko's? I know wax worms have a fat content but dont wann risk them getting hooked on them.

I feed my big guy king worms. Like 2 or three every other day and he's getting pretty fat.

Jerome, you mean This Fool? He's such a cute lardo!!!!!! He is getting chunky. But it's cute nonetheless. We did waxies for a bit to help our breeders gain some weight. It deffinately works. Some people feed the waxies as a "treat" but in order for them to gain weight, you should throw in a few each feeding. Be careful, some leos can get addicted to waxies, which are the equivalent of a hamburger...

Avoid too many waxworms! Mealies, giants, and supers all have a higher fat content than most feeders, but they also have nutrition. It's better to let your geckos gain weight at a normal rate. As long as their heat is around 90-94 degrees anda they have a normal daylight cycle, they will gain weight. Power-feeding is not a good idea either.

lol. He should be fine. Super Giants can breed normals. So he should be good to go.

Yeah, we do super worms as well. A few of our geckos only like supers. They deffinately help with the weight gain too.

Yeah, Don't power feed. What we did with the waxies was just increased one at a time. Atleast that's what I did. I fed one, then a few days later fed 2. So, they only got about 4 waxies a week. I took them off because I didn't want lard balls rolling around the cage. But Marcia is right, mealies and Super worms, and giants are deffinately a better choice than the waxies.

If the feeders are well nourished the geckos will be too. I have been using a high quality gutload for the last year and usually get nice comments from people about how big my geckos are.

Super Worms/King Worms/King Mealworms, its all the same worm but by a lot of different names, but they are NOT giant mealworms, totally different species. We switched to super worms and all our geckos started gettin chunky.

like Marcia said, it's better they they gain weight at a normal weight. I have a female raptor who was a picky eater and at one time lost a little weight. she was weighing 56grams so i made sure her living conditions were 100% and mealworms were getting proper gut-load. she currently weighs 73grams and doesnt seem to want to stop there. good luck!

what exactly do you mean powerfeeding? i mean, i do know what it means, but how exactly do you power feed geckos? its not like they over feed or anything, they only eat till they're full, atleast mine do anyway.
