Have any of you noticed that your geckos like one food better than another?
For instance, my leo loves pinkys (he gets one twice a month) and could eat crickets all day. However he only takes a super if very hungry and won't touch mealies

All of mine havea pretty varied diet and none of them turn teir nose up at anything, but when I take out the waxies they all seem to know what coming and watch me with the little whit container. Its the only time they seem to look forward to me being there. Kinda remindes me of cats. They tollerate you till you have something they want and then you are the greatest thing going. :)

I was using dubia roaches and they went crazy. But my colony got low, so I switched over to mealies, which they still eat....but not as ferociously

mine is crickets.. but before mealworms.. then i noticed they dont eat the mealworms unless it is moving.. then i started giving them crickets which drives them crazy.. =)

here in philippines many leopard gecko keepers feed their geckos with dubia.. and it seems the geckos like it much...

All 3 of my leos still prefer crix over roaches, and NONE of them like mealies :(

They have to be STARVING to eat mealies!!

So, I'm jelous of you guys that feed mealies all the time as a staple.

I would LOVE to get rid of the crickets AND the roaches (which still freak me out!!) - but my leos wont let me

Locusts rock and kick butt!

Locusts are one of the most nutritous and wonderful staple items in any insectivores diet. Excellent calcium to phosphorous ratio and almost universally accepted. Some gecko species dont like them, however if the rear legs are removed they are good to go! The 2 most coomon species as feeders are Locusta migratoria and Schistocera gregaria.
