I have had it happen twice where a gecko was extremely prolific in her first season laying (20 eggs for one gecko, 23 for another) and then, beginning with the 2nd season, production fell off sharply to the point that by the 3rd season she was barely producing at all. In addition, I bought a gecko from someone about 6 years ago. The gecko was 2 1/2 when I got her and had the reputation for being a good breeder but only produced 4 babies for me over the course of 2 years. Has this happened to anyone else?

So, no one has had this experience? Or has anyone had the opposite experience --a gecko that lays a lot of eggs every season, or is it completely random?

Kind of going through that right now. Our girl who produced the most last year, which was her first, is not giving us anything this year. She's ovulating, and we witness copulation. There's just no eggs. Frustrating, but we are still hoping that things will turn around.

My 2 best girls from last year have slow starters this season. They both absorbed the first clutch. I suspect the change in ambient temperature set all the girls back except one. She gave no eggs last year but is making up for it now. When we had to start using the ac I forgot about closing the door to their room and it may have gotten too cool for a few weeks to be condusive for laying.
