Feeder fish?

Has anyone tried tiny feeder fish in a shallow bowl? I assume a leopard gecko could handle one if it can handle a pinky

Just an after thought, could a leo digest their scales (they eat their own sheds)?

Sure, but that doesn't preclude them as a food item in captivity. Nothing about their components should present any problems in terms of digestion. In fact, the protein and healthy fats should only be positive. My primary concern is that the leos would simply take no interest and the fish would be wasted. Also, my next concern would be the possibility of introducing endoparasitic worms, depending upon specificity and resultant host suitability or lack of it. I have had some feeder fish (rosy reds) pass a tapeworm on to one of my snapping turtles. Not cool. I cannot be sure of parasite-host specificity in this (leos) case, as stated.

I may try this with some of my live breeder feeder fish to see if the leos show interest. I have one RAPTOR that only eats if I hold the food for her. I'll see if she takes to it.

If this did actually work out, this could be far superior to pinkies in terms of cost and so on for a high nutritional return. I will report back if I try this out.

The one female did of her own volition. The rest paid them no attention, so I used the jaw rub "force" feeding method to get them to at least taste the fish. All bit. None took them down even after multiple attempts per lizard.
