Hello everybody,
I have two cresteds and they looove their crickets. I have a large vertical terrarium and the crickets can get into the back of the terrarium where the gecko's can't get them. They do eventually come out again and the gecko's get them. The problem w/ this is that I gut load feed them and the crickets aren't eating every day. I keep my cricket's ina critter keeper w/ food and jell. Can I put a little soda cap of cricket food for the hiding crickets in the terrarium or would the Crested's mess w/ the cricket food? :) I had a Bibron's gecko and I used to keep cricket food in there.
Thank you,

Is there any way that you could possibly put the crested geckos in a separate KK to feed crickets?

I do this with one of my cresties who is in a bigger cage.
I put him in a KK when it's cricket time, and he eats them all up.

If your talking about the crickets getting behind the foam rock decor of some tanks(which I think you are) you can flip it up side down and burry the open parts in your substrate or find something to stuff the holes with. Or you could just cover it with some tape. If not I can not help you with cricket food in the tank I would not want to do it simply because I wouldnt want extra crickets floating around the tank. They like to nibble on the geckos feet. Maybe the food would help not sure.

I would worry that the misting and the humidity would make the gutload get moldy. I think the crickets that my crestie doesn't eat snack on the CGD.

Thanks for answering. I like feeding them in their home as they are happy and unstressed there. I am trying too feed them less crickets. I see Ginger going into the back behind the foam(yes you are right) to get crickets. Crickets can start muching on them so maybe I should tape up the holes into the back. I use reptile turf as my geckos would end up eating more substrate than cricket otherwise. It is not thick enough to cover the holes. The geckos stay in the air on their vines for the most part so the crickets don't really bother them. :)

Do you ever handle your cresties? I do often and their staple diet is CGD and every other week i feed them crickets. I to also have a viv but with all that substrate in there the last thing I want my geckos to eat is dirt or moss while trying to chase a cricket, that is if they can find them. My viv is like a jungle. To be on the safe side I would suggest removing your cresties and putting them into another container ie: (plastic cookie bowl with holes poked into it, you can buy them at Costco)when you want to feed them crickets. If your cresties are stressed, I would guess it's because you dont handle them enough. They are the cutest little creatures and after they relax, they will crawl and jump all over ya. At least mine do, I wouldnt call that stressed.

I have no problem feeding my crestie crickets in the planted viv. The crickets like to climb on the foliage and the background, so just about all the time the crestie catches them up there. I feed crickets twice weekly and CGD three times weekly.

I had no problem feeding them in a viv either except when they miss the cricket they were trying to eat and instead injest soil or moss. Not a good thing.
