hi, i have a male leo who is about 8 inches in total length. is he about the age in which i can start feeding him every other day? recently he has not been eating consistintly.
It really depends on what you're feeding him. I normally keep a bowl full of superworms for all my geckos. They eat whenever they want. I put enough where the worms are gone in 2 days or so. That way I can replenish the bowl with gutloaded superworms.
If you are feeding crickets, every 2 days like you do is fine. Some people do everyday and some do every 3 days. It all depends on how much your gecko eats. What do you mean by your gecko not eating consistently?
I do every other day. If i try every day they eat a day then wont the next so its just me sat there with the food running round in the cage waiting...and waiting...and waiting...with the gecko going "i dont want food but ill just help myself out of this box and onto your hand"
I used to leave mealworms in for the ones that would eat out of dishes but then they seemed to get too fat and lazy. Now they have crickets, roaches, the odd waxworm and sometimes locusts. I like them to hunt for their food and get a little exercise, plus its more fun watching them chase it than just sat at a bowl :main_yes:
Both my girls (who are full grown adults) are in brumation so they only eat every four to five days. Once it gets warmer out I usually feed them every two to three days.
