Feeding only one thing?

I was having trouble finding a specific thread about it on here, other then people saying they do only feed one thing.

Is it possible to have healthy gecko's and only feed, meal worms?

Or only feed crickets?

Or do you need variety?

Right now at each feeding for my baby Leo, he's maybe eating 5-6 crickets, and 3-5 normal meal worms.

I try to dust the crickets and meal worms, although sometimes the powder doesn't stick so well to the worms.

Leos can be perfectly healthy with only one staple insect.

They can be ok with one type of food, provided the correct supplementation is used.

That is not to say they wouldn't be better with a variety though, a mixed diet wins every time.

Plus, the Leos will than you for it :main_yes:

Some do and some don't

Some feed one type of insect and some don't.

There is more variety with different insects and it is thought to provide a more healthy diet.

I feed only crickets, but I'm going to change up what I feed the crickets. I think that will help with nutrition.

My Eliza will only eat crickets now. Before the mealworm shortage she would eat them too but ever since i have been able to get them again she dosn't touch them. I wish she would eat them , even just for some variety, but i dunno- i still offer them just in case. She also eats her weekly wax worm no problem :main_rolleyes:. Now my little male will eat anything he can sink his teeth into (ANYTHING!), hes a little porker

My Gecko only get mealworms and she is fine with that.
I am going to start feeding two different sizes of mealworms for a change.

I'm trying to get Puzzle to eat mealworms, but he won't eat them unless I put them right in front of him and even then he loses interest quickly. He's spoiled with his crickets.

My gecko only eats mealies now. He tried a cricket once. He didn't really like the cricket because it kept on touching his nose with its feelers. After he ate that one, he didn't want anymore so I guess he just doesn't like crix. I can't get dubia as my mum HATES roaches.

The thing is, Juno, the baby haha new name, will eat dusted crickets, but WILL NOT eat meal worms dusted, he licks them, and then will not eat anything that is food for the rest of the day, not even crickets, he just completely looses his appetite.

So I've just been feeding dusted crickets, and meal worms that aren't dusted.

i just recently started feeding mine the giant mealworms sold at *****. i think he likes em better cuz he doesnt have to eat so many to get full. he always eats the big ones first. (i put the regular size in still too)
