Hi everyone, I recently got an albino leo gecko. He's still a juvenile and about 4 - 4.5 inches from head to tail. I was wondering if anyone can give me some good feeding tips and whatnot. He's pretty shy and im pretty sure he only eats at night, hes never normally out when theres light around. I was wondering how many crickets, mela worms and weg should i feed him and how regularly? Also any other tips about feeding would be fantastic.

Cheers guys.:main_thumbsup:

In brief:

give him time to adjust if he's new and don't expect him to eat for at least a few days

expect him to eat primarily at night

keep a bowl of mealworms at all times

don't worry about how many he should eat. If he's eating, he'll eat what he should. I usually provide 10-15 mealworms at least in the bowl and 3-5 crickets

feed crickets in the evening when he comes out in low light. If he's going to eat them, he should start hunting. Give him about 30 minutes and then remove remaining crickets

This should get you started.

Most leos eat at night when the lights are off or dimmed down. He might not come out when the lights are on because Albinos are very sensitive to light and it might irritate them.

There isn't a specific number of feeders that your suppose feed because every gecko is different. You can feed as many crickets as he's welling to eat in 15mins (that's what I've heard. hopefully someone can clarify). I also suggest putting in one cricket at a time and waiting for him to eat it before you put in another one. Crickets are little pest and like to annoy leos. Any crickets that he doesn't eat should be removed. As for mealies you can just place them in a dish. You can leave them in your tank at all times if you'd like. I suggest putting an amount that's easy for you to visually count so you can keep track of how much he's eating. I usually put 10mealies at a time. Seems to work for my leo and easy to count buy just looking in the dish. Your feeders should also be gutloaded and kept pretty clean. Umm I personally feed everyday but might cut it down to every other day because I've seen my gecko slowing down to only eating every2-3days instead of everyday.

Ahhh ok thanks for the info, that'll help a lot. i just cleaned out his food dish and put 10 mealies in there and i also put 5 crickets in, ive turned the lights down and so i'll check back in about half hour and get rid of the remaining crickets. (gutloaded everything of course)

Thanks again for the info.:main_thumbsup:
