Female Burried Herself

Hello All,
My son called me this morning to let me know that our female crested has buried herself in the back corner of her tank. Does this mean she's laying eggs?

I'm not quit sure of her age; she was purchased at the 2006 Pomona show in December , so I would say she's close to a year old, if not older. At what age do they start to lay eggs? I haven't handled her in a while, but she hasn't looked like she's been carrying any eggs.

Anyway, I really just wanted to know if a buried gecko = egg laying.

My male went through a period where he buried himself in the moss every day. I don't breed cresties, but I'd imagine a more sure sign of egg laying readiness is digging.

Thanks, Aliza. I went home for lunch and looked around the area she where she was laying and didn't see anything.

Being that she may be less than a year old, I believe I'm going to divide my 20g tall in half until she's ready to make babies..

I don't think she was burrowing just to lay eggs. I have a crestie that burrows (used to, I switched to paper towels), and I think they do it to get cooled down. Do you have any other gecko in the tank?

Yes, there's one more in there with her.

Sorry - should have included that in my last post.

The second gecko is a male, which is why I want to separate them for now.

You can keep them together, just make sure you research breeding!

In the wild, Crested Geckos will bury themselves under the leaf litter when it starts to get colder. That is probably what she is doing. my female crested just started doing it too, and the weather is cooling down up here.
