Female pre-anal pores?? PLease help

I just weighed my geckos and updated some records and as I did this I decided to take a look underneath with a flashlight. I found that 4 of mine that I believed to be female do show a V shaped gathering of pores or "dents" before the base of the tail. Since I am fairly new at this.. I am wondering..

Are male pores always darkened??? I have had male AFTs that showed these pores and werent dark, is it the same for leos?

Males and females with both have a "V" shaped pattern above their vents, but with males it is actual pores that secrete a dark, waxy substance. Females are more like little dimples.

^ yup Marcia explained everything. Males pores are also deeper looking and non smooth looking. Hard to explain LOL

So for males they may not be dark but there would be a waxy excretion coming from the pores.. okay lets go look for wax. Thanks guys
