Oh Marcia! I am so sorry that your baby is sick. I hope and pray she passes the calcifide egg follicles and is gonna give you some awesome babies. I am praying for you!

I had a female that was eggbound last month. We had to do a couple rounds of oxytocin, but it did eventually seem to work - she passed the eggs anyway. I hope your girl will do the same for you and soon!!!

Marcia- I'm really sorry to hear that. :( I know it's hard for you and I know you said if she has it, you won't be breeding her anymore. THat is a hard loss for a breeder as well since she was so costly. I hope all goes well and let us know if she passes the eggs.

You know, it would be disappointing to lose an Enigma as a breeder... but I just want her to be OK.

My vet has performed surgeries on a couple of my girls in the past, and is able to save their reproductive organs. I never did breed those girls again, though... I just figured it wasn't worth putting them through that if there was a problem to begin with.

Marcia, this makes you the wonderful, and in my eyes, the best breeder there is. You are more interested in the animals well being than in the eggs your girl could produce. God Bless!

I have a female, that is also ovulating.
She started and than stopped and that around 2 times now. She is 56 gramms and around 15 month old and she is together with a male. She also never layed eggs but started and stopped with ovulating. She started to ovulate 2 month ago.

Is there any one still having problems with their females? My ovulating females are being super aggressive this year towards my males. Anybody else still having issues?

I have been waiting eagerly to here from my friend who currently has three of my leopard geckos. Spock is a lucky man (or so I thought) and was housed with two females who /were/ ovulating. However, they both refused him. Talk about double rejection.

I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong, both females are 50+ grams, very healthy, and were ovulating at the time.

The third leopard gecko I ever tried to breed was a female enigma for Kelli at H.I.S.S. to a male SSTA from Paul at Garden State. The female was a little aggressive at first. Waging her tail, biting when the male tried to breed her, etc. So I keep the enigma, in the cage with the SSTA for about 3 days, without taking her out (YES, OF COURSE I watched for major aggression). After about 30 min in the cage, she settled down, and they started to lie next to each other. I still kept her in there though, as the male wasn’t harassing her, and I wanted to make sure that the deed was done. So after the third day when I figured the male had enough time I took her out, and put her back into her box, by herself. My guess is the breeding took, because I breed her 3/28, and she has laid 10 eggs (7 good ones) so far, and this is only her first season, on 6/2. So personally what I would do, if a female isn't to overly aggressive, is to put her in, and keep her in the same cage with the male I would want to breed her with. Either until I see her developed eggs, or she has laid a clutch. Then after I know she has the sperm in her, move her to her own cage, for a while, until I think she needs to be rebred. If she was overly aggressive to the male, I would probably do what Mel said, and put her in with a male that was too large for her to bully around. Keep in mind though that this is my first season, and I don't really know what I’m doing, as much as most of the other people in on this site.

The issuse is the females are being Overly aggressive. They are going out of their way to Attack the Male. One of the females is smaller than the male as well. I don't have any Big Males right now either so thats not an option for me. I Might have to get me Super Giant Raptor Male to bully all those aggerssive girls. LOL

Well Paco you are in a bind right now aren't you? Really I don't know what I would do in your shoes, really the only moral thing you can do, is to take them out, and not breed them, this season. Which yeah, that suck, but is there anything else you can really do, and be a responsible gecko keeper? I guess if I just really had to breed them, I would just give a male a go, everyday, and see what they do with different males, not just males that you want to breed her with. That is really the only suggestion I have for you. Maybe after so long, she will give in, just make sure you take her out of the other male’s cage, before they are done with work. That way you still get the offspring you want from her. Just make sure, there is no major harm to either of the geckos evolved, as you can expect a little nip her and there, with gecko breeding.

I am going to keep trying. If it does not happen it was not meant to be. I have more females for the Male so we shall see how it goes later on down the road. I have breed in the past so I understand how it works. I have just never dealt with such aggressive females before. I have only had smooth breeding experiences, the girls love the boys and boys love the girls. All my Leos have their own Cage so they are sperated when not breeding.

Wow, okay. I have nothing left for you after that. I would just wait for somebody with a little more knowledge to come along. Sorry I couldn't help you out. I guess I can just be happy I don’t have that female. hahahaha
