My leo laid an egg :) but i dont know if its fertile or not, its already too late to incubate it cuz im stupid and didnt have anything ready. im just wondering if i can seperate the male and the female now (they have been together for a coupkle months)

the egg is dented cuz it was laid on the tile anyways even though she has a moist hide. it is yellow except at the bottom of the egg where there is a few red veins, so does that mean its fertile so i can seperate them and expect some eggs in another couple weeks

she a first time breeder and only laid one egg btw.

thanks a lot

Hey that's AWESOME David, glad to hear they FINALLY mated! :D

Usually a female will lay outside of her moist hide when she knows the eggs are infertile, so I would think that it very well could be infertile just because of that reason. Although a few red veins sounds fertile to me. You could incubate it anyways and hope for the best. For dented eggs, you could try putting a little piece of moist paper towel on top and see if the egg blows back up.

You do not have to seperate the two, it just depends on your discretion. If they seem happy living together, I would just keep them together. But if you think they'd be happier seperated, then seperate them :)

You may or may not see more eggs. Some first-year breeders lay only one and no more, some lay 4-6 clutches, you just never know! I wish the best of luck to you though, I hope she lays two more for you soon :D

A BIG congrats to you as well!!! I know how long you've been waiting for them to mate!

thanks Jess.

So do u think it is fertile? it was laid outside the lay box.. (it wasnt too moist at the time) but it has some red veins in the bottom, if i could i would seperate them as soon as possible, thats why im hoping its fertile so i know they mated for sure, cuz i never saw them mate or anything..

thanks again

Just leave the wet paper towel on it for now and candle the egg again in a day or two :)

I am a bit concerned about the veins being on the bottom, though. I wonder if the egg got turned by one of your leos? Do you see veins that look like a bulls-eye in the egg (hopefully not on the bottom)?
