Hello!
We've had our geckos for a couple of months now... have got a few questions about their eating habits ...
We have a separate tank full of crickets of all different sizes, and also a box of mealies, both lots of insects are fed fruit and veg and we have calcium powder and minerals to dust them with. The thing is, once the food is dusted, Nessy especially seems alot less interested in eating it! Sometimes he will sniff it then leave it, is that normal?
Desmond is a much bigger gecko and loves worms, esp. waxworms but he doesnt get them often as hes already a bit podgy! He eats up to 12 mealies every 2-3 days, but when I put crickets in, he doesnt seem bothered, I'm not sure if hes too lazy to chase them or if he just doesnt like them as much. Nessy is smaller, but he doesnt seem interested in mealies and not at all in waxworms, he loves crickets but he only eats about 6 every 2-3 days so I'm not sure if thats enough? Is it ok for them to only eat one kind of insect or should they be eating both?
Last question! How big should the crickets be? Nessy seems to like the bigger ones best he seems to get exciited when he sees one of those! But I read they shouldnt be bigger than the geckos head, the largest ones are prob about the same size as his head is this ok?
Sorry for all the questions!
