So, I finally was able to get my leopard gecko!
I have been roaming around this forum for a while now in preparation, and made a thread in the introduction section with out having a Leo.
I took my time and pieced together a vivarium for my pet-to-be.
Finally yesterday it was time. I have a friend that owns an exotic animal/reptile shop so it was clear where I would be getting her from.

I am still deciding on a name for her...I'm pretty sure it's a female.

I think she is just normal but if any one has info, it will be appreciated. :)

Please excuse the silver flex tape. It's all I had and does the trick for now.

Congrats to your new gecko! You have the right friend :main_yes:

That's a nice, big, healthy-looking Normal. She really looks female on those pictures when you look under the tail. Good choice! A strong, healthy adult is always better for beginners than a tiny weak hatchling that can turn out you don't know how.

Say, do you have two daylight bulbs in your cage (which is otherwise a professional set-up, with the right substrate/tiles)? Leos don't need daylight; they prefer red light or black light, since they are nocturnal and have very sensitive eyes. But maybe it's just a reflection from your flash... Do you have a moist hide with moist paper towel in it, to help with shedding?

Congrats on being a owner, you'll be an addict soon enough, I was fine with two, now within two months I have 4.

Thank you both!

I don't have any lights in the viv. You are correct, that is the flash from the camera lol.

I don't have a humid hide yet. I'm working on that now.

Any suggestion's on viewing your leo at night?

I have a UTH and don't really want to add anymore heat but, I would like to be able to see him during the night. Is there any specific red light or moonlight bulb I should be looking for?

Pretty girl! Looks like a great cage, you've done your homework. If you just get a small desk lamp that takes something 50-watt or below, you can find some low-heat bulbs in pet stores. I have a moonlight (blue) and a red heat bulb for my 50-watt lamp. The blue bulb doesn't give off as much heat as the red one.

Congrats on being a owner, you'll be an addict soon enough, I was fine with two, now within two months I have 4.

I had one boy for 14 months and in the next 2 months after that moved my own count up to 6. :main_laugh: Now I have 4 eggs incubating and 2-4 more to be laid this month.

is this a mack snow?? im askin because one of mine looks exactly like this one.

Possibly. Some Mack Snows are hard to distinguish from Normals once full-grown; they show varying levels of Xanthism as they mature - some nearly axanthic (white) and some highly xanthic (more yellow). The best way to know is if you had it from when it was a baby and it used to be white and black.

Congrats! I didn't know I was going to be a Gecko owner but once I became one, I fell in love with the little guy. I just wish I had room to get another one, because they're so adorable and make amazing pets! I've learned so much about them in the last month alone, a lot from this site as well as other references. The set up looks great, and so does your little gecko :)

Ah I remember getting my first Leo. You seem like you really did your research, your enclosure looks great. Do you haver an UTH? If so, then you're golden.
