After fifty-days of waiting, my BellxTremper Albino Giant eggs finally hatched today. They are about 2 inches long and are SUPER CUTE.

Congrats!!! Your long wait is over!!!

Post pics if you can. :D

How big are the parents? Nice-sized giant babies.

I am having a very hard time waiting on my eggs and it is day 30+ for 3 of them. I incubated them to be male (because I am not patient) and it is really hard waiting. I usually sit by the incubator and peek in there and stare for hours without bothering the eggs.

Same here why breed two strains? The only thing I could think of is that your trying to pass on the Giant gene? Well cant wait to see pictures of the little guys :)

I can't think of why either, but there are reasons. (I may sound like an idiot, because I am trying to make out the words for what I want to say.)

Not everyone who breeds leos is a professional breeder and sometimes people breed leos for the sake of it. (I know that breeding should be taken seriously, because it is your leo's health and lives at sake.) I know people that breed their favorite leos together, no matter what type they are just because they love them and want them to have babies. My friend who does this simply says that his leos are getting old and he wants them to have babies to remind him of them.
Other times, people really don't think of mixing two types or whatever. They have the knowledge of breeding and know what may happen and stuff. They just want to breed to get new types or see what the babies look like.

But what is the harm of mixing two albino strands? The only thing I can think of is having a leo that is even more het for albino.

That is a very good point :main_yes:

Do not check out the incubator everyday, just wait for couples of days and take a peek and you will see their little heads sneaking out.

Why would you breed two albino strains together?

I actually did this cross myself this year, and my babies from the project just recently hatched. The reason I’m doing it is to make super giant bell albinos. I will cross back the double hets (cooked for female) back to a bell male, and then cook the eggs from those clutches for male. Then test breed the offspring, and then if I have one. Save a giant bell male, that isn’t het for tremper albino.

Size of parents: Dam;30grams.Sire;45grams

Just FYI, neither of those are giant sized, so I seriously doubt they have the giant “gene”. And IMO if a female can grow larger than 30 grams you should allow her to, before breeding her. Breeding that young can cause serious problems. If the female is 3 years old and 30 grams well then she will just be smaller. Some will say not to breed her at all.

What are the hatch dates of your leos?
