I am so excited...this night my first little snow (The Urban Geckos-line) hatched! It was kind of unexpexted....
But lets start from the beginning...
I doubted a little bit that this snow-trait is dominat. I thought that they maybe are something different than E.macularis and that this is the reason that they look so different. so I didn't know what to expect from the pairing...
I tried to pair my patternless female with the TUG mail. But when the eggs were about five weeks in the inkubator they began to sweat. I was very confused - it was two weeks to early to hatch and the egg were very yellowish inside...no more blood vessels, no movements and now shades. One day passed and nothing happend. So I decided to open them because I was very sure that they had died.
What I found was only a little embryo head. It was perfectly built but only 2-3 weeks old. Both eggs showed ecaxtly the same! I believe that the rest from the body just ''liquefied'' ( I don't know the right word for it). There was no bad smell...
I had that never before. When eggs ''died'' they just didn't developp the first days... or they died befor hatching because of deformities (had that twice) but I never lost an egg in the middle of the incubating period...
I was very sad because my fear seemed to prove... Craig from TUG sais that he got his snows as group from the wild and I thougt that it could be a diffrent ''sort'' of Eublepharis that can't be paired with E. macularius...
But I paired the snow with an TUG Sunglow as second male too.
First I paired the sunglow with my stripe Albino het RAPTOR and I got 10 beautiful sunglow babys from her. I lost two eggs because they dried out in her Box (I wasn't at home so I couldn't take them out
)
I only paired her once and from this pairing she had 12 eggs, all fertile. When I saw that she had follikel again I paired her with the snow. I didn't expect snow babies, I thought she still would give Albino babys from the other mail... but last week when I was candeling the eggs I realized, that the babys are to dark for albinos. That was the time when I opend the two eggs from the other snow pairing. I was totally happy to see that these egg were alive! Because now I know that it's possible to pair the snow - I still don't know if he is an E.macularius - but that doesn't really matter for me now
.
BTW it's the first season for both females.
the third egg from the patternless female seems to be o.k. I'ts now 3 1/2 weeks old looks perfekt and I can see movements inside :main_yes: ! The other egg turns to yellowish so I have no hope for that.
The patternless female is two years old and very healthy but maybe it's a problem with her - or its just ''the first season''...
Anyway I hope sooooo much that I get some het patternless snows this year...
And this is little snow: hatched at 47 days, father: snow, mother: sunglow (extremly orange). Because that litte has no orange on his body I believe now that TUG snow is dominant :main_thumbsup: !!!
little snow with two normals
Eggteeth
very tired after fotoshooting
