I opened up my unhatched egg yesterday that was over three weeks beyond the projected date by temp. Sadly, there was a fully formed dead embryo in it big enough to be a hatchling. Can't help but wonder what may have caused this one not to hatch. I know that you can't turn eggs over, but would gently tipping the deli cup to examine the egg possibly have caused this embryo's death? I did this quite often with all the other eggs that hatched. Just wondering. Bob

Sorry it didn't work out. SOmetimes it just happens for no reason that we'll ever know. Maybe the baby was too weak to get out. I once checked my incubator a few years ago and found 2 just out of the egg dead leos and one live one. I never figured out why it happened, but I've had babies hatch that were clearly too weak and didn't survive more than a few days even though they looked perfectly formed. I guess it goes with the territory.
