This is my first ever successful hatchling. Hopefully there are more to come :) Another 4 eggs are in the incubator (another 2 are inside the mother), so hopefully thats another 4 or 6 litttle geckos on their way.
Parents are:
Male- High Yellow, unsure of HETs
Female- Tremper Albino Eclipse, again unsure of HETs

Well, no albino here from the looks of it. Well see what the other eggs produce. What a cute lil baby, congrats. They look High yellow/normal.

I know, Im guessing the male has no HETs, which doesn't bother me at all after seeing this little gecko. However there is still chance to see what the other eggs produce and whether there are any HETs. I thought they looked high yellow/normal too.

If the male carries hets there is no garuntee they will show in all the offspring, a full clutch should tell you if theres any unkown variables.

That's what I'm hoping I will achieve from this clutch. Personally I doubt that the male has any HETs, because he is quite vividly high yellow, so I'm assuming he's a thorough line bred high yellow. By the time all of these eggs hatch though, hopefully we will know what the males genes are like soon.

Doesnt need to be line bred to be without hets. However ive always wondered if a Highyellow is just a Hypo normal. If anyone wants to fill me in...

I suppose you're right. And yes that is quite a good question, I'm now wondering the same thing

What a cute chubby healthy little baby!
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS.

High yellow is a normal/hypo normal that has been bred to eradicate the dustier browns and other background colors found in wild type leopard geckos. They are not much bred past that point though, so a high-yellow or normal non-het is generally considered to be more genetically diverse than any linebred types (bolds, hyperxanthics, linebred snows, tangerines, emerines, etc.).

They are not as good of an outcross as an actual wild-caught bloodline, but high-yellow non-hets are as close as a lot of people can get to wild-type. They are actually "mutts" from several different subspecies of Eublepharis macularius (wild leopard geckos). The only way breeders in the U.S. can legally get "fresh" wild-caught blood is through certain breeders in Europe whose countries have exceptions to CITES (or they have purchased wild caughts from countries without restrictions; those not signed to the CITES treaty).

Thanks :) lets just hope it survives the next few days. What do you suggest feeding the hatchlings with, I know she wont eat for another few days, but I don't really like the idea of the tiny little crickets because Ive been told they get everywhere and the house will be infested with them. If thats what I have to do then I will, but are there any alternatives?

Medium mealworms are fine.
Keep it on a damp paper towel until the first shed, in 3-7 days. You can offer first meal at 3-5 days, if it hasn't had its first shed (which you may not notice, anyhow). I would say 1-2 worms a.m. and p.m. daily; then up 1 worm per feeding until the gecko eats what it wants - they will stop and lose interest when they are full.

For the first few weeks, they really only need 2-5 worms daily, but their appetite increases with their size, lol. Once they are 8-10g you can feed larger mealworms or medium crickets. I wait until 25-30g to introduce superworms or roaches.
And that's just how I do it, not everyone does it my way.

She shed today for the first time :) how long do you reckon until she will be hungry? I saw her finish the shed around 4 hours ago if that helps.

Another hatchling today. And this one is a hefty gecko. 4.5g straight out of the egg! Seems very healthy indeed, not lacking in size. Its already as big as my 11 day old hatchling, and just as heavy!

This is the one that hatched last week. It seems very healthy :) there are photos of it hatching, and also some photos I took today. Again parents were Tremper Albino Eclipse x High Yellow. Still unsure of HETs on both parents.

Possibly Eclipse? The other hatchling had obvious snake eyes, but this one, Im not too sure of.

So my first hatchling was a normal and had very yellow stripes. My third was a mack snow and had pure white stripes. Now my first hatchling has shed a few times her yellow is going more white and it gets even whiter every time she sheds... And the mack snow is going more yellow every time it sheds. Leopard geckos are such confusing creatures haha
