ALL of the enigmas that we will be producing/selling this year will be accurately represented for what they are.

Let's be honest here. I don't think anyone expects any less. ;)

Realistically we [the leopard gecko community] do not know what a lot of our Enigmas are het for.

Oh, but you gave me the indication that you knew exactly what the genetics of the pairing were. To be more exact:

Male Enigma 100% Het. Blizzard/Bell Albino X a Rainwater Blazing Blizzard.

I can think of MANY circumstances over the past year that people have bred their enigmas to different morphs without knowing for certain what the genetics of said enigma was and ended up with a big suprise. Some good examples of the animals produced by those types of pairings are Tremper Enigmas, Bell Enigmas, Blizzard Enigmas.. I am sure there will be more suprises as more people start working with this morph.

I don't doubt that, when the morph was brand new, breeders didn't know the exact genetics. But you gave me the indication that you knew, which was my whole point.

If your intent was to breed the male back to a LVBB or something like that, then the pairing makes some sense to me. If you took offense to some of the words I chose, then I'm sorry you feel that way. I stated at the end of my previous post that I was only trying to understand the reasoning for this pairing. There was no underlying statement.

The original enigmas that were released had all sorts of undisclosed/unknown genetics floating around right? And as more people are breeding them, those individuals may or may not be discovering that their enigmas are het for something initially unknown. Whatever that may be.

I dont understand the reason for your post, are you questioning our reasoning for pairing a male DH bell and blizzard to a RWBB? Are you making a judgment based on the fact that we were crossing animals that carry different strains of the albino gene? Or do you want to get into a discussion on the unknown genetics of enigmas, even tho it is a commonly known and accepted truth that many enigmas carry genetics that we dont know?

We got our male from a respectable individual, and we KNOW that it is 100% het bell and 100% het blizzard. It COULD possibly carry stuff we dont know about, as could anyone else who gets an enigma. Its a possibility that comes along with the territory. Since we dont know, we dont disclose it, since we make the assumption that anyone who knows what an enimga is, also knows that all of the genetics that each enigma caries may not be completely known.

If that wasnt totally clear, here is an example.

Lets pretend like I breed dogs, and I HAPPEN to UNKNOWINGLY have a dog that is het for x, its parents were normal, and looking at it, I would think "this is a normal dog". I breed it to an animal that is not also a het for x, and all of the offspring are normal, would I sell the puppies as being "Possibly het for x, y & z" because those recessive genetic defects occur in that species? Of course not. Thats silly.

If you are curious, the plan is to make blizzard enigmas 100% het for Rainwater, to then breed back to other RWBB, making enigma RWBBs. Since we bought the first male to be available on the open market, choosing a "normal het blizzard" instead of a "normal DH blizzard and Bell" wasnt exactly an option. Now I could just buy a blizzard enigma, but thats how things go, you work with what you have while you have it. Right?

As for the albinos, we are not the first, nor will we be the last individuals to cross albino strains. All of the original enigmas were thought to be possible het bell, yet now we have Tremper enigmas, and RAPTOR enigmas, and het RW enigmas. It happens, I am of the opinion that as long as you disclose the known genetics, or even known possibles, that you are fulfilling your obligation.
