First shed...

I actually saw my first shed yesterday. I got a new TINY patternless albino from the local store (didn't want it in there with all the bigger ones) and one of the first things it does is start to shed. I had to put him/her in the water bowl to help with the stuck foot shed, but after a minute in the bowl, s/he got it off with no trouble. I have not seen my other two leos shed (guess I always miss it), and I was actually excited to be able to see this event take place. I had my 5 year old come in and watch too.

Thanks. I'm just wondering why that was pretty much the first thing it did. Do you think that the store just didn't have the setup the little one needed to shed properly or is it just a coincidence? I didn't see any humid hides in the tank.

I was amazed by the shedding process when I got my first leos recently. I was even more surprised that one of them seemed to "help" the other pull the shed off. Of course, as a side benefit he got to eat part of the shed!

I made a little video of the event, for anyone else who hasn't witnessed their leos shedding.

I came home today to discover my little girl actually utilizing her moist hide and some pieces of skin at the enterance. I'm like a nervous parent! This is my first gecko shed.

My beardie is shedding now, too, but that's no big deal, he can't loose toes or anything. His skin just kind of dries up and falls right off. (Though I'm dieing to see his colors, he's very unique and keeps getting brighter and brighter!) :main_laugh:
