I am pretty sure, since my dad is an electrician, that all the crimping tools are universal and they all can crimp anything. Any home improvement store should sell them in the hand tools department. If you can't find one, ask them where the "cable crimping" tools are.

Disclaimer: I am not an electrician. But, you can take a razor, and cut just the top layer of plastic(probably in a rectangular shape, just over the metal strip), or you can usually melt the plastic off with the iron. Peel that off, or make sure the copper is exposed. Then you just solder the wire carefully in the center of the metal-strip.

A pair of regular pliers worked just fine, for mine.:)

I prefer to solder my heat-tape now, though.

I do the exact same thing.. Regular pliers and solder the connections myself. I don't solder to the actual inner carbon connections though..

You're a bolder man than me Dan.. :main_evilgrin:

Use wood screws and a crimped on eye fitting on the wire. Simply screw the flexwatt to the shelf through the contact points. No need to solder, scrape or crimp.
