In a rack system, is it better to use 3" 6 watt or 3" 10 watt?

its up to you, they all work just the same, its mainly what Size you need, just adding more wattage means more power is running threw it, it will still hit whatever temp you set your thermostat to just will be Faster or slower.

what size tub are u using ? if your housing adults definately go with the 4"

I use 6 watt 3 inch and it has served me well. I don't think there is anything wrong with going to 4 inches but I don't think that it will make much difference. My tank temps are fine and my house is naturally colder than most.

Varying sizes, so I wanted a width that would work for adults and juvies. I settled on 3", but do you think 4" is the better choice?

I use 4" on my hatchling and adult racks.IMO 3" wont give as wide surface heat like the 4" DOES

Thanks for all the feedback! I'm going to go with 3" 10 watt for now and if I need to upgrade to 4" in a later rack, I will.
