I set up a planted terrarium for a day gecko about 3 1/2 years ago and included a bromiliad. THose are the plants that have the green foliage with the gorgeous red or pink shield-shaped blooms in the center. They always sell them in bloom, but they don't tell you that after the bloom dies, the plant doesn't bloom again, but puts out a "pup" plant that will bloom eventually. I planted the pup and waited, and waited . . . and waited. This morning, after more than 3 years, I can see the top of the bright red new bloom peeking out of the foliage! This is really exciting because I've always gotten more foliage than flowers in this terrarium. My anthurium plant is flowering occasionally after about 2 1/2 years of nothing. I'll post a picture when it comes up.
