I just purchased the Fluker's cricket quencher(yellow gel kind) because I have read some great things about it here to try something new on gutloading. I also bought two containers of large mealworms. I put a small cube in their container. About 3 hours later I opened it up to see how they were liking it and every single mealworm is dead. I even left them out for about 15-20 mins to get them warmed up and they are COMPLETELY dead! I didn't know this was poisonous to them? So now im stuck with a stupid container of dead mealworms and a jar of basically unused quencher. Is this stuff poisonous to leos as well if they would have been fed the mealworms? ugh im so frustrated I've been searching this site for someone with similar issues.

I've had that stuff kill crickets. I know mealies are a lot more moisture sensitive than other insects though, so it's possible that increased humidity is doing your mealies in rather than any potential toxic effects. I've noticed that the orange Fluker stuff actually ferments after a while. The blue stuff works great though for crickets.

Maybe just stick with potatoes and carrots for your mealies? I'm sorry you lost a whole shipment of mealies. That's a real bummer. :-\

I use flukers complete cricket diet (orange cube looking), and it is food, water, and vitamins for crickets, but i use them with my mealworms and they are fine. So i wouldnt think it is poisonous. That would be completely retarded. Im sorry for your loss of mealworms.

This was also the only kind of Fluker's that read "Perfect for crickets and other feeder insects". Since it was the only one that included that other feeder insect part i thought this must be the safest. hahahaha boy was I wrongggggggg.

ps. do you think if i go back to my local chain petstore (that shall be kept nameless), that they would let me return it for the orange cubes and possibly new mealworms?

Maybe they don't consider larvae to be "insects"? :tongue3:

I can see being able to return a mostly-unused product that you don't want, but I'm not sure about the mealies since they were alive when you bought 'em. :(

I was able to return a light with no questions asked,(except what was wrong with it) so i dont think they would mind you bringing back the stuff. Just say it is for crickets not mealworms, and my mealworms strangely died all in one day, i want a refund.

I use a mixture of Fluckers crickets feed, Rep Cal, Herptivite, and Osteo form with my superworms and they are great and thriving.
