Freaking Out

I sent two geckos to this guy - Stephaon Burney (Acme Reptiles) in Southern California yesterday. When the UPS tracking showed nothing other than arrival in Ontario last night when I checked this morning at about 10:15, and my other shipment had already arrived, I called to be sure it wasn't sitting in Ontario. As I was on the phone it came in that the driver had tried to deliver the package, but there was no such address. Well, looking closer, I realized that 2 numbers in the 5 digit address were switched. At first I thought I had messed up - badly.

Well, I eventually realized that I had used his Paypal CONFIRMED address - which appeared on quick glance to be the same as the one he sent in an email - except for those two numbers. So, I told UPS about the mix-up and they re-delivered to that address at 11:50. Great.

All through this I had been emailing this guy with updates about what I was learning and trying to get address confirmation. Nothing. Finally he emails tonight freaking out and very accusatory. Said his internet was down all day. He said he knows his confirmed PayPal address is wrong & that's why he sent the other email. (Don't you think he should've changed it or at least clued me in to that tidbit?) His email (in all caps of course) goes on about how FedEx showed that they delivered the package and he called FedEx and FedEx said such and such. I ship UPS - and he'd have to look up and dial the UPS phone number in order to actually talk to them. At least go to the UPS tracking website to see that it had been delivered. He seemed very concerned about he money he's out and no word about the welfare of those two little geckos. AAARRRGHH

Assuming the address in his email was the correct one (which he has not confirmed), that is where UPS thinks they delivered the box (the other address didn't exist). So - where the hell are those geckos? If someone found them - why haven't they called me? My phone number is on the outside of the box.

Like I said - I'm freaking out!!!

That's BS. If he knew that his confirmed paypal address was incorrect he should have said, "Hey my paypal address is wrong, here's the CORRECT address..." I would tell him the he should go to hell and confirm his actual address with paypal. How on earth could he expect anyone to notice 2 reversed digits without having it pointed out?

How on earth can his PayPal address be confirmed if it's not even a real address? And why the fuck hasn't the asshole corrected it?

Nancy don't let this asshole get to you. Hopefully the geckos were delievered to someone that will care enough to call you and you can get them back and tell the other guy to go pound salt.

Okay, so I just spent the morning talking to UPS again - who were extremely cooperative and helpful, by the way. I spoke to the woman who talked directly to the driver. He remembers exactly what he did (which is to deliver to the correct address). He even remembered the apt number without being told. So, it appears that the geckos were delivered to the correct address - at least what I think is the correct address because this moron STILL has not confirmed his address with me even after several requests on my part.

He said he called about the package yesterday and was going to again today. No. He has not called in at all according to two sources at UPS.

He did send some apologetic emails last night when I called him on the accusatory tone he was taking with me. Had me believing the geckos were really lost. Again - freaking out rather than sleeping.

At this point, though, I'm inclined to think that the geckos are happily set-up in his rack and he's just trying to get his money back as well. I hope that is the case - I'd hate for them to be floating around out there somewhere. :(

Guess who's now on my Do Not Ever Sell to List?

So, UPS told me to tell him that he has to call them if any further action is to be taken. I doubt he will do this if he has the geckos, but I would hope that he would if they really are lost.

Nancy care to share his name so we can all add him to our Do Not Ever Sell To list?

I'm glad it sounds like he may really have them and they are not lost. At least this way they aren't dying in a box somewhere. Now just to deal with this creep!

Well, I have heard back from him. He said that he called UPS and actually talked directly to the driver. The driver said something about 2nd floor (odd since he recalled the appartment as 306). So he called the apartment office (why hadn't he checked with them last night???????) and they have the box. He is at work and won't know the status until he gets home, but assuming this story is true (and he hasn't just had them all along) they should be fine as they have been inside just sitting there this whole time.

I am so happy to know where that box is - now I just hope the geckos are fine as well.

Felicia - his name is Stephaon Burney. He may actually be telling me the truth in all this who knows. Sometimes he seems very genuine, sometimes there are just so many inconsistancies in what he says.

Even if he is telling the truth do we want to deal with someone that dumb? If he can't even correct his address on PayPal, which btw you are supposed to use when shipping as he should know, then he's also a lazy bum.

Happy ending!
He finally got home and picked up the geckos from his apartment office (which he totally could have done last night). They are fine and he is happy. (said he looks forward to doing business again :main_lipsrsealed: ) I think he was telling the truth - but is just not terribly bright and very bad in a crisis situation. lol.

I'm gonna go have a glass of wine now.

I'm glad everything worked out alright, Nancy. I can't even imagine how frustrating that would have been.

Yes - it was incredibly frustrating!! I can't tell you how much it helps to be able to vent about it here, though!! :)
I hear that. If I couldn't come here to vent as often as I do, I'm pretty sure my head would just explode.
