I have 3 leos but one still has me puzzeled. It is about a year old and when I look at its underside there is no spotted v-pattern but it looks like it has the ball area and I think I seen a hemipenis but that was only once is there anyway to be sure about its sex. Can I put it in with one of my males to see how they react to each other or should I buy one that a breeder can guarntee is a female and put it in with the one in question(after quarnteen of course) to see how they act?

I would think that it was female if you cannot see the V-pattern. Is the bulge before or after the vent (closer to the belly would be before the vent, and closer to the tail end would be after the vent).

We have a very questionable gecko ourselves.. I cannot see the V-pattern, but there is "a little something" that could pass as a bulge. However, when looking at my visually sexed male, I noticed that his "bulge" was after the vent.. the gecko in question has "the little something" before the vent, so I'm seriously thinking that the gecko is female..

I jokingly said "maybe we could just put this gecko with another male to see what happens" but it really was just a joke, and I would never recommend doing so (since one could get seriously injured).

Can you post some pics?

I have geckos that are proven breeder males that do not show the v pattern, very much at all. However they do show the budges, at the base of the tail. Much like the male gecko in this picture.

As you can see in this picture the female does have a little something before the vent, if you look closely. I would say that your gecko is most likely female, but if you posted a picture of her underside, I think that, that would help more people answer your question more accurately.

I can't seem to get a clear pic of Angels underside cause my dig cam sucks but the 3rd and 4th pics in the post "Help sex my leos please! (By Request)" looks almost exactly like Angel from below. The part that gets me is Angel is around a yr old but just like the other post no pores but little nuts (hope putting it that way isn't offensive). Is there anyway to be sure like should I find a female to see how Angel reacts or try putting Angel with Wally which I know is male. I have had them out together on the bed a few times and they did fine Angel even walked over Wally to get to a blanket rolled up and I have held one then the other without getting the others scent off me without any thing happening.

We found out ours was female with a closer look at the v-pattern:

do the "little nuts" appear before or after the vent?

I guess if I was going to put Angel, with a male or a female to see. I would make sure that they are in separate container, but could see each other. Such as a fish tank, or a 15-qt tub. This should allow them to be able to see each other, without being able to injure each other.

Can you try to get a pic. The problem with putting them together is if both males-fight of course. But, if you have a male advancing on a female who doesn't want to mate-she will also fight. So that won't help you as you still won't know male or female. From my exp-males right next to each other with glass between them will rattle tails and posture for a fight. But if it's a young male he doesn't always do that.
If you're wanting another gecko you could purchase a sexed female, but then if Angel is a boy.....

At a year old you should see pronounced pores and bulges. Remember that females have pores to but they are not as visible. You can usually sex geckos at 14 grams.. When you look at them from the side you can see bulges right before the vent. I dont even have to pick them up, I can sex the from the side... Of course you would want to do both to make sure...

This is the leo in question you can see a slight buldge on this pic it is right were the lavender on the tail starts behind the back legs. The other thing that puzzels me is the pic above my info to the left is of Wally a known male with visible pores though they are more in a streight line than a V he is the darker one on the left and Angel which is the lighter jungle leo on the right and they made no attempt to fight or love. I'm so confussed :)

From here that bulge looks like a male. Try putting it in a deli cup, holding it over a lamp and taking a photo without a flash. That usually works for me.

The pics are a little too blurry, but from that other pic, I think Angel looks male too.

I thought the male bulge was after the vent (like if you just turn the gecko over and its head is facing up, after the vent would be the side that is at the base of the tail. I always see male bulges after the vent (and when I have geckos that have "questionable bulges" before the vent, I know they are just that - questionable bulges because it's supposed to be after the vent).. Am I just totally wrong here?
