Hi all - been a while since I`ve done a thread on here, but hope this will compensate!
thought I might as well post a few pics of - just some - of the really nice results we`ve had here this season. A lot has taken us by surprise this season, with plenty of ups and downs, but overall, the season has been a phenomenal success - we take everything as a bonus, but when plans come off, it makes the heart skip a bit!
First up - ironically the first hatchling of the 2012 season, which turned out to be one of the best! A bona fide 100% Salsa Stripe male: a definite keeper and a massive part of 2013`s plans and beyond:
Then there`s another big favourite of mine - quite possibly my favourite baby of the entire year for a multitude of reasons - an Atomic Tangerine het Rainwater.....no normal Atomic, but I can`t disclose too much...let`s just say he`s very dark, and very handsome
This is an example of a nice Salsa Stripe outcross - we expanded the gene pool this year with an A grade RRS to keep everything fresh and healthy: thankfully it paid of handsomely:
This is one of the best Leopard Geckos I have genuinelly seen in my life - an albsolutely perfect Raining Red Stripe complete with a 100% stripe (very rare and hard to get)...really pulled one out the bag with this beauty and my wife`s fave leo of all time!!!
Another little Atomic het RW - clutchmate to the above and absolutely glowing in the flesh...unreal tbh:
Apologies to all you non-tang fans!!! This one is a little Super Hypo 66% het Marble Eye` (had my first full Marble Eye hatch out yesterday!!! woohoo!) - one of the first steps toward taking the Marble Eye from Tremper, and just taken aback as to the intensity of it - esp` when the eye gene was/is the focus of the breedings: a really big bonus!
Another Salsa Stripe Outcross - this Leo is, esp in the flesh, gobsmackingly beautiful, it doesn`t change colour depending on mood or temp - it`s dark brown in patches and vivid green, a real melting pot of colours and takes a second/third look before you can even begin to understand what`s going on: delighted, esp as it`s shows the power the Salsas` are having on Leos even when they`re outcrossed to other lines. Never would have though such an amount of brown/emerine was possible on a leo - and it`s come through with age, not the other way round
Another `pure` Salsa Stripe - it`s `red stripes` are so strong, esp set against that Emerine Reverse Stripe, that they actually are appearing red!!! Again, another one that`s getting better and better. Got to thanks the Gecko Gods as to be blessed with more than 1 pure Salsa in an infant season is much, much more than I dared hope for.
This is the `fluke` Salsa Albino some of you may know about - could possibly be RW going off the eyes, but will obv be kept back to prove beyond doubt (the only albino hatchling out of 20+ from one female). Thought I`d show this to show the phenomenal change on hatching - to about 2 weeks later....nothing amazes me than the world of Leopard Geckos!!!
Birth:
2 Weeks!
Another little really dark Atomic - so velvety it`s unreal: personally, as many others, never been a tang fan, but these really are something else that supercedes Tangerine....can`t put my finger on it but they`re special!
Lastly - as I can`t post any more pics but there are many, many more! - a little glimpse into what I`ve tried to pursue for a couple of year.....this little beauty is out our own little offering after deciding it would be lovely to produce a genuine `Hyper Xanthic` Sunglow instead of an orange one - NO idea how it will go, could be pure pants, but if you don`t try, you`ll never find out!
Thanks for looking, and hope I`ve not bored you to death. While I`m at it, just wanted, again, to say a big thanks to the Grinning Gecko Gang: you`ve been an inspiration, and a stalwart for us, and many, many others over the years - never forget, the highest esteem in which you are not only held, but treasured.
