Anybody know what this G-project is about? I've seen it around a while now, but I'm still not sure what makes a "G-project" gecko? For my inexperienced eyes, a G-project gecko seems to be an emerine reverse-striped carrot-tail eclipse gecko. A wonderful bundle of genes no doubt, but I'm still not sure what makes these geckos any different than that.

Basically what you said. Matt Baronak has been line breeding them and its what he calls his line of orangy/green carrot tail reverse stripe stripy goodness. He sold some of his animals to TUG and so they also work with this line.

Btw He has about six different lines of g project, the green come from when the lavender over lapses a different pattern on a gecko, but i forgot which..

heres some more info from his page : 'G project.
The “G Project” actually started back in 2006. At first, it started with the quest to make “greener” looking leopard geckos. The project started with some Jungle Giants, Red Stripes, and some bi-products of Eclipse and Raptors. I noticed that some geckos had a green hue to them and I started selecting out these geckos. I must admit that the idea did come from the Emerines, I ...saw them before they were publicly released. When the Emerines were released in 2007 I bought a pair and added them to the project. From that point the project started to take many forms.

To this day, “The G Project” is melting pot of many projects. So in a way, calling it a “G Project” gecko is actually a generic term that I use to signify that a gecko is from a line that I work with. “G Project” geckos come in many forms and I am constantly changing what I am looking for from them. As of now there are about 6 different lines of “G Projects” that I am working on. What started out as a quest to get a green looking gecko has actually given life to a multitude of projects within a project. I know this sounds crazy, but, welcome to my world- hahahah

This is an example of what I was looking for when I started. A lot of people think the “G” stands for Green, but actually, it doesn’t. The meaning of the G, is one of the secretes of dreamland that I will keep to my self. :)'

It seems that there are some inconsistencies within this project. From the very beginning, I have known it as the green project. I am pretty sure that's what the "G" meant when they were first introduced. Even the Urban Gecko has the "G" described as being for green and I am pretty sure they were some of the first if not the first to acquire them from Baronak. I guess they never truly understood the genetic line in which they acquired?

On this post of his, he describes the "G" standing for the dad of the first pairing. Look and maybe you can see why? Well, which is it? The first male or because of the genetic term to identify a gecko from this project?

I also think it is a bit weird to have 6 different lines that are totally unrelated. A line breeding project cannot be called such if genetics are never crossed. If they have been crossed, how are they not they same/related genetic line? This is also the first time that I have ever heard the "G" doesn't mean green.

The marketing kinda reminds me of Ron Trempers ploys at marketing. Changing things to conform them to fit what's best at the time.
