If the gecko had proven Giant parents then it could be a Super Giant or Giant. All geckos grow at different rates there's no way to guess unless you know the genetics of the parents, exact age, and having the hatch weight helps sometimes.

so if i haf Giant parents, i'll get 25% super giants 50% giants n 25% normals aite? how to differentiate between the super sibling with da giant siblings? or it still only can be diffrentiate by watching the weight when the are big? (we'll it will be hard huh? coz there will be 3 diffrent leos that can only be seperated by weight)

I haven't seen anything solidly consistent among my Giants and Super Giants. Nothing universal, that is.

Sometimes, hatchling length helps. Other times, rate of growth in the short term can be indicative. Obviously, the ultimate test should be maximum size, but even that is not necessarily reliable, as it involves the application of nurture to the mix. I have a female SG that came from SG x SG pairing, where the parents are both from the originator of the morph. She's normally sized, although more time might be needed. I suspect this was due to her earlier care before I received her, but she's a runt of a Super Giant. All of her babies have been Giants, though, compared to others, right out of the eggs. If you looked at her, you'd never know she's a genetic SG.

I have an exceptionally pretty MS that came from GMS x MSS pairing. Smallish at hatching. Seemed non-Giant. Low weight. Tail wasn't especially long. Didn't grow that much for a month or two. Picky eater and just a little wimp of an animal. However, recently, his length and dimensions in terms of limbs, tail, and head have shot up to where he has surpassed older and bigger juveniles that were never small to begin with. He's the type where you 100% must grow him out to be certain.

With others, you can tell right out of the egg. Big, long baby. Longer tail. Lankier body in many cases. Sometimes and bigger or longer head (not always).

Also, rate of growth early on. As with my MS example, he was a slow starter if he's even a Giant at all. However, some of these out-of-the-egg all-stars hit subadult size in just a month or two. The former will need to be grown out, while the latter have very strong indications from the get-go.

Unless there is overwhelming evidence, babies from one or two Giant parents are considered possible Giants. If one parent is a SG, then the babies will be considered Giant if paired with a non-Giant parent, Giants poss Super Giants if bred to a Giant, and SG automatically if bred to another SG.

I see way too many smaller breeders breed G to WT or G to G and automatically label their offspring either Giants or Super Giants when there isn't anything glaring to indicate such for those particular animals.

so the safest way for a giant breeder is to get atleast a SG..then he is safe to label them giants.. though will haf some prob determining SG.. but a ethical breeder will label them giants (if they are bigger than the other, put possible giant)

so in buying a Giant/SG, the buyer oso must play the role to investigate~

Yes, if one parent is a genetic Super Giant, then all of the babies will carry at least one copy of the Giant gene.

Yes, that would be responsible practice for a breeder, and it is always a good idea to do your homework when considering a purchase.

im thinking of getting giants.. in ur opinion, which is better, buying a single SG or buy 2 female Giants and 1 male Giant?

2 female and 1 male Giant= will get many offsprings.. but will haf the trouble of distinguishing them..and the fact that haf to wait till about 8 months or 1 yr to distinguish between giant n normal.. it will take long time.. but again.. may offsprings, so theres a chance to get SG in the 1st generation.. and higher chances of getting many Giants and SG than the method below..

a single SG= not so many offsprings as above, but offspring will be all Giant.. safer.. but less offsprings and will not get SG in the 1st generation..

what say you?

Depends on what kind of time, patience, and resources you have. If you have space to grow them all out and want the SG as quickly as possible, you could go 1.2 Giants.

I have gotten into the habit of getting Super Giants for project security/guarantee and getting unusually nice or interesting Giants as supplements to those groups. That way, I get SGs for sure and Gs for sure, at the least.

If I had to make the choice these days, I'd go with the one SG. A year or two back, I'd have chosen 1.2 Gs.

Really, though, it's your choice to make.
