I try to post information relating to how Geckcessories did at the end of each calendar year, mostly to provide a reality check to people who think they will make lots of money doing this and to encourage people who think they will definitely lose huge amounts of money if they try it.
As usual, my figures don't take into account 2 important expenses which I can't/don't want to spend the time to calculate, namely, electricity costs and mileage and gas when attending shows.
I usually come out a few hundred dollars in the red which to my mind is a small price to pay for a hobby that I love. This year I was a bit more in the hole mostly due to buying a leachie and contributions to my local NE Wildlife Center where my vet is (whenever I make a vet visit I add a donation to my bill to keep the place going).
Total Net for 2012: -$562 (that's in the red)
Expenses:
Reptile purchases: $655
Supplies: 372
Food: 1546
Misc. (show fees, contributions, etc) 416
Income
Reptile sales: 1920
Supplies 372
Misc (payment for writing, table pay-back) 288
Yes, I know, the number don't add up exactly but it's close enough, off by less than $50.
I hope this is helpful to someone.
