My brother's friend (also our neighbor) is keeping his friends leopard gecko at his house. The gecko has no water, no food, and no heat source. The substrate is sand. It's tail is extremely thin and it has many layers of stuck shed on his face, back, and feet because it has no hide with moss. The cage is filthy and I want to help the poor thing. I'm worried that it's going to die. I've tried everything and they won't let me have to gecko. They don't want to get rid of it even though they've said out loud that they wanted it to die. Is there anything I can do?

If your brother's friend is a teenager or younger, you might try appealing to his parents or asking your parents to help with this. You may also be able to get some of his friends to intervene, if he has friends who also think he's being irresponsible. Short of that, there isn't much you can do and the gecko may be too far gone at this point to survive even if you take it. Good luck.
