My gecko seems to be getting quite fat in the belly or mid region, his tail is fine but belly seems very full at all times any suggestions??

I will post pics in morn, just seems really fat yet his tail is fine but hasnt got fatter as if his belly holding it all. I have recently fed him his first lot of waxworms which i know is fattening but as a treat i fed him once he ate 6 in one night and i never gave him anymore, i thought one day of feeding would be a good enough treat. I ony did this the once and dont want to feed him waxworms again. He still eating daily with mealworms but since feeding waxworms hes really fat he pooping daily still.

Eehhh, from what I've heard that sounds like impaction. Someone with more knowledge will come along shortly.

Impaction is not always due to substrate. A lowered digestive system can cause the same issue. What are your temps. And of course, pics.

No his tail hasnt lost any size, but his tail isnt as big as yours. Hes quite active, i give him daily baths of warm water 80oF to try help with shedding on feet, which he seems to like.

he looks normal to me. sometimes the geckos dont put much weight on their tails until they get a little older. there are also a lot of obese geckos on the web with ridiculously massive tails. maybe youre used to seeing these geckos. if your gecko never gets a massive tail its no cause for concern, as long as its nice and thick and doesnt get smaller.

good job on keeping him on tile.

oh and about the shedding... if you have to, pull off the shed on his toes by rubbing them with q tips after one of those baths. its VERY important to get that shed off because the toes will fall off eventually. i learned the hard way and feel terrible about the missing toes.

hehe, yeah rangos a tad on the fat side(she doesnt eat much either). But im glad someone else agrees, the tail is moderate imo. Aslong as the tail isnt shrinking and the belly isnt buldging out like when they become impacted id just keep a watchful eye as always. Good to know your working on the feets.
