They are solitaire creatures. Some will tolerate a cage mate while others will not. It's no guarantee either that 2 females will get along. So if you decide to get a second gecko the first thing you will need to do is keep the new gecko quarantined for 60-90 days (so you will need to have a second cage for this). After that period then you could place 2 females together. You can not house males together, you can not house a young male and female together. If the 2 females do not get along then they need to be separated (another reason for the second cage).

P.S. I have 8 adult geckos and 11 babies, I house all of my gecko seraratly. :main_thumbsup:

Stitch said it all!! All I really have to add is not to be too discouraged, we have two different groups of three housed together and they actually get along rather well.. Each gecko has its own personality though, so the extra cage is a must just in case the new addition you get doesn't play well with others..

I agree with everything stated above. I like to house some females together when I can. I do have 1 female that does not get along with any other females so she is curently housed with a male but I have a space for her when its time to seperate them. I also have a pair housed together in a 20L. They have been housed together for 5 years before I got them so I didn't want to seperate them.

I agree with the other posts here but would add one thing completely clean and rearainge the tank that the one is in right before you put in the new one that way the one you already have may not be so terratorial it will think it's in a new place and then give them time to adjust but keep a watch on them and make sure you have a normal and a humid hide for each.

We house all of ours individually but we have tried a small test group of females in a 40L and they didn't thrive like they did when they were housed singly and their colors darkened up a lot.
