this happened to me with my leo :/ i know it sucks :( she got really skinny and stopped eating for about 8 days...then i switched out the reptile carpet with a single layer of paper towels, cleaned out her entire cage and she started eating again. Sometimes they're very picky. Good luck though

Hey guys! Just wanted to let you all know my leo ate five crickets tonight :D I took it out of its tank and put it in a sep container so the crickets couldn't escape easily . It was still having trouble catching them, so I took off some of the legs so they couldn't get away and the leo ate em :D

Yay! Very good. Keep it up and let us know.

I feed crickets in a seperate container too so I can watch how much they eat. Plus you don't have to go searching for the crickets in the tank later. also slurry is like a baby food but made out of meal worms. There is a sticky on the forum with the recipe in it. It is good to give it to geckos who aren't eating. You just dab it on their nose and let them lick it so they get nutrients in still. I haven't tried it yet but I use this vet stuff that is similar idea and it helps. My girl hadn't eaten worms or crickets in over 3 weeks so this stuff is helping her to stay healthy during this hunger strike lol

Defanitly try switching to paper towels. Its claws could be getting caught in the carpet and stressing it out. Just put a single layer over the reptile carpet. This way the temperature wont go up since paper towels are thinner. Good luck.

sad news

Hey guys. im sad to say that my leo has passed away. I came home and it was in an unusual spot in the tank so i attempted to pick it up and it was limp. Its belly had a blueish purple discoloration. i thought it was doing well by eating but i guess it was impacted maybe.

Oh no! *Hugs* Thats so sad. You've only had it for such a short period of time. Hopefully this doesn't discourage you from having more leos in the future. I would def read up on more info about care before you get another one so everything is perfect in the tank when you move in the new one. :)

It's so sad that it seemed like the little one was turning a corner after finally eating but then so quickly faded away. You tried your best to help the little one - with the youtube video and everything. Too bad our suggestions couldn't help the little one survive :(

My condolences for your lost.

Thank you. It is a little discouraging, but i do think i can properly care for one now. I am going to invest in an adjuster for my UTH and probably switch out the reptile carpet for just plain paper towel before i get a new leo.
