Gecko just can't shed properly....?

We have a baby leo that is a few months old now, that gets shed stuk in her eyes every time she sheds. We've had to take her to the vet twice because we could not get it out and we've had to put all kinds of stuff in her eyes to get it out, the whole shabang. So I've got two questions: 1.)Is there anything that we can do to help her when she sheds to that this doesn't happen? Like something we can put on her or something. We've tried soaking her, but she's obviously not going to sit there with her head under the water. (lol) 2.) Could this problem be due to the fact that she has a pretty noticable eye lid crinkle? I don't know for sure, but I have always thought it kind of "coincidental" that she is our only one to have this problem, and our only one that has the crinkles. Idk. Had to ask. (lol)

But yea. Thanks in advance for any answers/advice guys! Much appreciated!! :)

I would provide extra humidity; maybe the moist substrate in her shed box dries out too fast? The eyelid crinkle might make it more difficult to pull shed over it, but I've never encountered this issue with my gecko with an eyelid crease. Strange! Maybe it will get okay when she matures.

Good luck! :main_yes:

Thanks! :) I'm hoping that it will get better as well b/c I am so beyond tired of doctoring that lil girls eyes every time she sheds. (lol) The substrate may dry out quickly, but we usually check it every so often to be sure and have noticed it being extra dry, but I will definitely try to find something that holds more humidity longer and see if that helps. Thanks again! :)

Temperature and nutritional inbalance can also cause shedding issues. What is your husbandry like? Temps, substrat in the viv and in the moist hide? Where is the moist hide located in the viv, hot or cold side?

Temps: 90 on the hot side, 75-80 on the cold. Her moist hide is on the cool side now. We had it kind of stuck in between so, it was relitively warm in it, but it apparently go too hot in there b/c she would never go in it. (lol) We also used to have coco fiber bedding in her tank and her hides, but after our first scare with her eyes we switched to papertowels. The vet insists there was only shed in her eyes and not substrate, but I just don't want to add to the fire just in case, ya know? (though I absolutely loathe paper towels.) She only has one other gecko in the tank with her, as well that we adopted because she lost her tail, so don't know if that makes a difference, but just wanted to give all information. (lol)

Does she have a piece of furniture with an abrasive surface? They need it to rub the shed off.
