Hi,

I dont have no strait calcium as I cannot find that stuff around here all I have is calcium with vitamin d3 I have some of it in a little lid and my gecko was licking it, is this okay? The petshop said he was out of it and petland is out of it also so I just have been dusting crickets alot with the d3 and I have it in the tank in a little bowl. I have been dusting my crickets about every time with the d3 is it okay or should I stop? obviously I wasnt dusting to much or he wouldnt of went to the bowl and licked it like he did atleast I wouldnt think. anyhow thanks in advance.........Shaun

try to get it without d3 as soon as you can to avoid d3 overdose, i've heard it's getting more common in crested geckos and actually ends up blocking their ability to process the calcium, causing about the same symptoms as MBD despite the gecko having full calcium reserves.

Well, I keep a dish of d3 in my leos cage at all times. My leo with MBD really needed it, so he liks to lick from it at night. :)

Shaun, you could also see if you can find a cuttle bone. they have them for reptiles and birds. you could scrape it off the bone into a bowl and that would work just fine.
if you cant find that you might have to order some calcium off the net.
What brand of d3 calcuim dust do you have? i notice that some smell sweeter than others, may be why she licks it so much if not for the fact that she just needs calcuim. if thats the case then you should dust the feeder more often.
i dust 2-4 times a week with no problems. she will lick the calcuim dish occasionally.
