ok brank new to the site and figured i would show you the cage setup i just finished building for my 3 leopard geckos. im a self taugh carpenter and have been doing it for about 5 years now just with small projects but like to take on something like this from time to time. built out of mostly pine, walnut for some custon hindges and some playwood for the back and floors, used 1/4 chicken wire type stuff for the top and thats about it. it measures 4x2x2, its 2 floors. as of now im just using the top floor until i make a ramp that is going to safly get them from floor to floor. im going to split the cage in 2 so that each cage has a top and bottom and get a couple more geckos, and now for

thanks for the comments, i knew it looked good but i never thought i would get proposed to get married for it lol

yeah when i get my geckos out i have to get them out one at a time because they like to explore and try to get everywhere, the only time they will sit with you is in the winter when its kinda chilly in my room and they will lay on my arm. they love the new big space though.

i was thinking about doing a write up thing about how to build it but idk how many people it would help because you need lots of wood working tools and some experience with some general stuff. you need table saw, miter saw, lots!!!! of clamps, drill press, hand drill, a skinny blade for the table saw, belt sander is almost a necessity (saves a ton of time!!!), some hand saws, a planer saves a lot of time too but you could do it with a hand sander or belt sander if you had to.

and just a little tip, all the material for this job costs a ton
wire mesh $10
pine $150
walnut $10
dowels, screws, calk $20
plexiglass $50
all the prices are just what i remember about and still have some wood left over

i went to a local carpentry shop with the "prints" i had sketched up and asked how much something like that would cost out of that material and they quoted it about $700!!!!! i only spend $200 so i guess its not that bad plus i have exactly what i wanted and i have the satisfaction of building it myslef

and again im kinda a carpenter so i have some experience in this kinda stuff, im also a machinist by trade and have had blueprint/cad training so this helps me with the design and figuring stuff out when it goes wrong

just some of my carpentry work

i guess its good that i like pets then lol and i have some experience in wood work so i kinda know what im doing, im a very handy guy and like to mess around trying new things, plus this is for my geckos so i had to spend the little extra time and money and make it look nice

remember its not if its right or wrong the first time but how close you come, keep trying, your work will always improve

and with this project i was surprised i only got hurt once, i got a nice thick splinter through my finger getting together the supplies as well, moving the plywood
