Hey all, this is my first thread about my first Gecko. My Rainwater ate mealworms out of the dish the first time I tried, the day after I got him, but then I switched to crickets due to mealworm stank... I was stupid, keeping a ton of mealworms in a sealed Tupperware with nothing but air holes in the lid... and used crickets for a few weeks. Now I wanna get him back on mealworms because they are cheaper. But he only eats them out of my hand or if I drop the mealworms in front of him. Wut up with that :main_huh:

I would like to get him back on mealworms that he can eat himself so I don't have to worrry when I go on vacation.

Many geckos will get away with what they can. You choices are to keep hand feeding, or to try "tough love" and leave them in the bowl hoping he'll get hungry enough (or to switch to crickets or superworms which move more).

Yeah, you're gonna have to go with tough love here.
I recently adopted a gecko from people who'd fed him nothing but crickets for years, but I breed my own worms in several varieties and didn't want to put up with the amount of crickets this guy could eat.

So, I gave him tough love and he eagerly awaits his mealies and others everyday and has snuffed crickets almost entirely.

My leo will only eat mealies, I don't wanna feed supers cause I don't want her to puke them back up. I tried feeding circkets because I have them now because of my firebellie toads and she won't touch them now.
