So my gecko screams. He has since the day I put him in his new home. He never wants anything to do with me. He eat well and shed and poops. Any time I put my hand in he runs. If I come in the room and he is out of his hide he runs into it screaming. It is quite unnerving. Any suggestions to make him not be such a scared little baby??

When they are babies they will do that. How old is you little fella and how long has he been in his new home? Best thing I can say is just move slowly if you might be scarying them. Also they need some time to adjust to a new housing. Upto a month or so. When they settle down from the stress of a new surrounding once a day handle them for a few minutes at a time. Once they get comfy with you theyll want to come out and crawl right onto your hand.

He is a teenager in gecko terms. I have had him just over a month. I will do my best with him. I want him to be comfortable with me.

Don't take it personally. You have to remember that in the wild geckos are food for alot of other animals. If they feel threatened they will make a mad dash for cover. If you attempt to handle them regularly then the will get more used to you. Some will become more "friendly" than others.

I've seen/heard alot of hissing Leos, but the thought of one screaming and running away makes me chuckle.... LOL :D

I think the screaming is hilarious sometimes with the new hatchlings. Sometimes they will scream at nothing. I can be sitting in the room barely moving or making any noise, and all of a sudden this shrill little scream will come from one of the baby tubs. Cracks me up every time.

Even if he does bite you the chances of it urting are very slim. It's more surprising than anything. Your gecko won't hold a grudge if he does end up biting you.

Yeah, I think they count on being quick and startling - a big adult can draw blood if it hits a soft spot and it's legitimately angry, but on the list of common small pets that can injure you, geckos are pretty close to the bottom. I've been bitten three or four times by my adult leo without a mark, and while I'm not gonna encourage you to test their jaw strength on yourself, I wouldn't be too nervous around a juvenile. Stay chill, no quick movements, and eventually the little guy should follow your example. :D Try to go easy on turning lights on and off in his room, too - it can be a little unnerving in the middle of the day/night.

LOL! I laughed out loud imagining that! I can't help it.
