Gecko Sexing

Hey!

I'm new to the world of leopard geckos. I bought two from a local pet store and I'm trying to figure out what sex they are. I have read a bunch of articles on trying to figure out what is male and female but my geckos don't seem to fit into any DISTINCT characteristics.

The one I believe to be a male does NOT have any distinct darker pores or any distinctively large bulges that I can tell of. But I'm new like I said and I may be missing something. They both look the same underneath.

Anyway the only reason i think the one is a male is because I noticed him trying to breed with the other one. He bites the back of the others neck and starts vibrating. he was doing this ALOT at the beginning of the summer but has stopped now and does not do this anymore.

I am going to attach the best picture I could take of my gecko from underneath but was wiggling too much to get a very detailed shot...

As I am not a veteran, do females show signs of mating? I though it was odd that the one was latching on and humping the other.

females do not. so i would assume you got a male (regardless of the photos) on your hands there and chances are the other is a female

Even in person. The gecko does not have any dark pores or bulges which is also strange but like I said has shown signs of mating with the other. The one which i think is a female has never laid eggs though so maybe they are both males.

The only problem is that the other hides in the humidity box all day and I couldn't get him to come out :(( I'll take a better picture and post it when I get home. Thanks for the quick responses.

The geckos are at least two years old. They are probably around 6 to 7 inches in length but I have never measured them. I would say they are average.

The "male" is a bit skinnier in stature but not by much compared to the "female" who is a bit thicker in the tail and mid section.
