mine is around 4 inch head to tail fits in palm of your hand , could it be 16 weeks old ? thanks in advance

I'm assuming you got a leopard gecko. They can vary in size a lot and I find that a better measure of how old it is would be the extent to which the black and yellow bands it's born with have changed. Offhand, I'd say that a 16 week old gecko that's only 4" is on the small side. If you got it at a pet store, it may have been losing the battle for food if it was housed with many other geckos. It may be just fine now that you have it by itself. A picture would be helpful.

Being that it is a pet store gecko then yeah thats definitely the right size. I would say about 4" for 4 months, 6" for 6 months.
As for my own personal geckos and other owners of geckos on here that looks like a small gecko from that perspective. It all depends on how well fed they are, how they are kept, and the fact that some geckos start out large out of the egg and/or grow faster than others.
