Gecko Spitting Food

My cousin called me and told me that while he was feeding his leo crickets, he saw that when his leo bit the cricket, he wouldn't even swallow it and he would just spit it back out. He started doing it since yesterday, and my cousin asked a Petco employee, but they couldn't help. His temperature was 82 degrees, and he is on carpet.

82 degrees is too low; tell him he needs at least 90-92F warm spot. My picky eaters will sometimes spit out the food when they don't like it plus they're not hungry.

I agree that the temp does need to be at least 90-92 degrees and some people actually like it 100 degrees. I keep mine at 96-98 degrees. Try that and see if that helps her appetite. Is she losing weight? If not then I wouldn't be concerned that much at this point.

I would got ahead and take her into a vet so you can get a professional to look at it if she is getting skinny.

^It's not mine, and I'm actually not sure if it's a he or a she yet. Too early to tell. But yeah, my cousin said that he'll take his gecko to the vet. He told me to ask you guys since he doesn't have an account here and the sooner the better. Plus, the vet is expensive.

It might start eating fine once the temps are up to the correct range, and gain weight. I'm not saying a vet isn't needed here, but it could be simple husbandry issues causing the problems. They need fixed to keep the gecko healthy and happy. Your friend should at least look at the information here on the forum, and several care sheets online.

some times if you have fed your feeders on some thing the geckos dont like the tast of they wont eat them
