Is it normal for a gecko to shake its tail before it pounces like a cat on a cricket? I think its beyond cute but I was just wondering if it was him or if it was all geckos.

I'm still fairly new but from what I've read, it's completely normal. Some of the folks I've talked with have stated that their Geckos will wriggle their tails so quick it almost sounds like a bee or a humming bird. I can't wait to see Neo (my Boy) do this. Grab a video if you can. I wanna' see!
My Charlie does this before she pounces on a cricket, and I've seen other geckos do it as well. I once read that they're somehow marking their scent when they do that, but I don't know how true that is.
all my leos do that befor they get a cricket. i think its just like a dog wagging it tail when its happy about somthing. or it my be like walch my tail and i will eat you with my mouth or somthing along that lines
I had one who did this at every feeding and she seems to have outgrown doing it, and now her new baby (2 weeks old) just did it today when I introduced crickets. I laugh every time! :main_laugh:
Makes 'em even more cat-like, doesn't it?
It seems a lot of leos will only do this for crickets or roaches - I know mine does. They're just so darn exciting!
Yep, mine will only do the tail shake when they see crickets or roaches. I don't think that is something that can grow out of. They'll do the tail-tip shake when they're excited.
