Gecko Tracking Software

Afternoon all,

I am currently the proud owner of a juvie leopard gecko Spyro that I have fallen in love with.

I have currently been tracking his feedings and sheds and such via an excel spreadsheet but I am looking for a bit more of an all in one solution.

I am currently working on a class in school on advanced python programming and as part of my master's capstone project want to write a little program that does just this.

Now this is where I need the communities help, I want to know what should be included in this program.

I am looking for any suggestions or comments on what you think this program should track, what features it should include and so forth and so on.

Any help is greatly appreciated with this.

customizable for different reptiles. I own a bit of a collection, so reqirements of tracking are a bit different

I would definitely include weight, as that is something breeders track on a regular basis. For breeding females when she was bred and when she lays her eggs. This is such a good idea. Good Luck!

These are great, I am starting to outline this on paper and the more suggestions I get the quicker I can get this going.

A place/spot to record their morph and parents would also be nice. I think a Gecko tracking software would be awesome. I have an aquarium software and use it a lot.

I actually was one of a few on here who helped Vyper create a program for tracking geckos personal data. The program never took off due to lack of clientele among other issues. There are a lot of things which the program was able to track but was not realistic for the keeper/breeder with more than a couple animals. It tracked things such as;

weight
age
morph
feeding (what, how much, how often)
pairing
eggs (good, bad, total, inc temp, what hatched, and when laid)
purchased prom
parents (dam x sire of gecko)
etc...

The program was originally designed for snakes due to the better records keeping affiliated with them. I personally had the program for about 2 weeks before I stopped due to the amount of time required for EVERY gecko to be logged.

Now since this is a school project I would be willing to tell you more if you would like (pm/email with questions). I just wouldn't personally invest the money,time, and effort to produce an actual product JMHO.
