LMAO...ask Gregg, he'd know. Ariana, that is the funniest thing I have heard all day. Gregg, you need to write a book ;)

Waving of a tail can mean a few things...it can be a defensive response, or even when they are hunting. Depends on the situation.

Seems to be very similar to when a cat waves its tail. It's irritated, defensive, or about to kill something. Leos are VERY catlike, aren't they...?

I don't know, I've only ever seen mine do it while they're out of the tank exploring. And nothing's around them at the time, no food, other geckos, and they're usually facing away from me when they do it.

Tiamat used to do it to everything in her tank when I first got her. Perhaps it's also a sign of unease? Either that or she was showing those decorations who's boss. :3

Most of the time it's a display of how tough they are. They often do it when they are hunting, courting, or looking for a fight.

Haha that would make sense then. My male likes to act all big and bad when he's out of his tank, but put him back in and he's back to being his lazy self

What kind of tail waving?was the tail straight up or laying down?My male does both and it really does look like a cat when he puts it straight up:main_yes:

I actually just had that happen last night. We got a new lil girl 2 days ago. So this was the first time I put my hand in the cage. I kinda sat my hand down by her n then I scooted it closer and I tried to kinda pet her n her tail was all waving around. I didn't really no why she was doing that-but now I know she was telling me to get the heck out! Neways, I saw she didn't like my hand touching her so I just sat my hand down on the bottom of the cage n she came up n leaped at my thumb to bite it..I was like dang! So ya...now I know what the waving meant. So thanks for asking!

It can be a defensive poise too. If they are irritated they wave their tail to attract the predator to it's movement then they dart away. If the predator attacks the tail then they just snap it off and continue with the dart n dash defense. Pretty smart.

My little guy has been waving his tail around a few times today.

Once when i stroked him and the 2nd time he was comming out of his cool hide and walking very slowly to the warm side, licking the floor a lot, and then kinda looked at his log and started waving his tail around...was pretty funny :D

Ive started to take him out of his tank a little every day now and let him walk on my arm and legs while im sat down and he seems to enjoy it, so maybe now instead of being scared of me hes trying to tell me whos boss ;)
